Room Parent Responsibilities
What is a Room Parent ?
What Have I Gotten Myself Into?
A Room Parent is the liaison between our school, its teachers and the classroom parents. As the Room Parent, you are the “go-to” person for your teacher -- BUT you need to enlist help from other parents… don’t try to do it all!
Duties include:
- Schedule a meeting with your teacher to determine his/her needs for the year. Most teachers have a clear plan of how you can assist them!
- Create a class roster and email distribution list. Update as needed throughout the year.
- Recruit and coordinate volunteers and donations for classroom needs: parties, projects and special events.
- Recognize teacher’s birthday or half-birthday. Use the Teacher’s Favorite’s handout for gift ideas.
- Encourage parents and families to participate in classroom and school-wide events.
- Relay information to parents about Community Outreach - Hollydale Elementary School and holiday give back events.
- Communicate teacher requests & class information with parents (i.e. monthly volunteer calendar, clerical needs, etc.).
- Organize gifts and donations for school-wide events as outlined by the Room Parent Coordinators/Administration (holiday parties, year-end giving, teacher gifts).
- Coordinate with other Room Parents as needed.
- Attend Room Parent meetings (dates above)
- Check PTA website for updates, meeting agendas and forms
Important Reminder:
For school-wide events requesting donations, the Room Parent Coordinators will supply
a written template that has already been approved by Mrs. Long. If you have any
questions about collecting donations for any purpose, please contact the Room Parent Coordinators
